I’m Fraser Jones MBCS, I’m currently a Development Manager in a local software company but I’ve been surrounded by all forms of technology all my life!
I started out with a 25Mhz Amstrad 086 with a 30Mb HDD running DOS 3.0 and Windows 2.0 but now dabble right across the computing spectrum – from Windows to Linux, from desktops to servers and all the way down to the Android phone in my pocket and the smartwatch on my wrist!
I began programming simple stuff in BASIC but since then I’ve had some experience programming in Visual BASIC, C++, Java. Right now my primary languages are those of the web – PHP, HTML, CSS plus the languages of databases – SQL (T-SQL, PL/SQL).
I’m fully qualified, holding a degree in Computer Science as well as being a member of the British Computer Society. I’ve also kept myself up-to-date through extensive self teaching. Through this, with the help of my home lab setup, I’ve gained experience of:
- Networking Concepts (TCP/IP, routing, network switches and cabling)
- Active Directory and Domains
- DNS (and WINS)
- DHCP
- VPN Configuration (OpenVPN)
- CRON
- Windows Server
- Cent OS
- VMWare vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi)
